Crisp is kind of freedom hater. The whole point is to have arms powerful enough to challenge an overzealous government.
Fracking has been used for more than 30 years.
It has been studied and monitored the entire time.
There is as yet no evidence that fracking has affected any ground water supply adversely.
Facts.
-As a Geotechnical Engineer I seriously question the other commenter claiming expert knowledge.
By the way. Your bitter attitude makes it next to impossible to take you seriously.
in response to cassandra2: This simply is not true. It has not been confirmed. Where are you getting the piece of BS? Did you hear it on Faux? And I'm wasting time again, am I not, talking to people who need to believe what is manifestly not true in order to hold on to their bogus positions?

Sea level rise at best is .4mm per year (about the same average as before the industrial revolution).
Malibu is a matter of coastal erosion which would take place with or without the presence of humans.
A critical rise in sea level would take millennia requiring the melt of interior Antarctic (which has been at a net gain) and Greenland ice. This "melt" is not likely under any current models.
Delta regions go through a natural process of inundation only minutely related to sea level rise. It just happens to that Southeast Asia is highly populated and is affected by methods of land use, again sea level rise does not contribute meaningfully.
in response to NABNYC: How long will our country wait before we turn away from an oil-based energy policy, and make a national investment in green energy? How many cities have to be underwater before people admit that climate change is real, and it's going to kill us all if we don't get serious. The first move must be to get off of oil. So why would the U.S. allow oil pipelines to be built across our nation so Canada can move oil sands to refineries in the gulf coast, to be refined, and sold? The obvious answer is that many of our politicians have already taken enormous bribes from the oil corporations to push through this disaster. It's lucrative for them. But what about the people of the U.S.? What do we get out of it? Besides a bunch of leaky pipelines dripping solvents and chemicals into our land, running off into our water, possibly spreading carcinogenic matter throughout our drinking water. The argument apparently will be that it is better for the U.S. to buy oil from the white folks in Canada, instead of having to buy it from the non-white folks in the middle east and Africa. The problem with that argument (other than the racism) is that the oil being transported in environmentally disastrous pipelines across American soils will be sold by Canada to China. You got that right. It's all heading to China, so China has enough to run their manufacturing facilities which now employ Chinese workers doing American jobs. You know -- the jobs that U.S. corporations have taken away from the U.S., increasing our unemployment and devastating our communities. This whole idea is insane. The politicians and oil corporations will push it because they make money off of it. Americans can't possibly be dumb enough to buy into this nonsense. Can they?

No measurable rise in sea levels related to man-made "global warning". Of course coastal cities have been vulnerable for as long as there has been coastal cities. As far as panicked reports of various islands experiencing rising sea levels, it has been confirmed that those locations are actually sinking/subsiding.
Our government safety net exists not to benefit the needy but to provide a permanent voter base for political purposes.
Capitalism has always provided the best standard of living for the lowest of income earners. The welfare ultimately provided by our most successful industrialist has far exceeded government in real results and benefit of those who are truly needy in society. When government takes over, the cost skyrockets, the benefits plummet, and cronyism runs rampant.
shsp, thank you for informing us that solar and wind subsidies are a massive waste. I believe the government should cut all subsidies.
Not bad people. Fair commentary from both sides. Except OWS was useless.
And Brown isn't ridiculously wealthy? Soros to the rescue? Streisand?
in response to cassandra2: We have more guns and more gun murders than any developed nation. This is not coincidence. People could be just as nuts, or as evil, or as murderous or as driven or whatever, but without the weapon they can't take out 20 kids and 3 school personnel in one event.

You should review the statistics for homicide rates. It turns out "developed nations" don't need guns to kill more people than the U.S.
in response to GoUCLABruins: Ignore the gun behind the curtain -- look! A video game! Sorry, but all the research into violence in media and violence in real life shows the same thing -- no connection. Ignore the gun behind the curtain -- look! A "well-armed citizen." Sorry, but all the research shows that well-armed citizens are nothing but a menace to themselves and others. We regulate cars. We regulate airplanes. We regulate the way you go through an airport. We regulate what is and is not "coffee." We're going to regulate the guns. The First Amendment to the Constitution defines 3 separate rights. We know they're separate because they are separated by semi-colons, and in 18th-century grammar the semi-colon separated (as it does today), independent but logically connected ideas. The Second Amendment has no such semi-colon. The militia clause is not separate from the possession clause. For over 100 years, militia membership in was mandatory in every colony except Pennsylvania. That's why people needed guns -- the colonial governments didn't want to pay for them. The U.S. Code defines the militia as all able-bodied males 17-45 who are not in the military and all females who are also in the National Guard. The U.S. Code divides the militia into 2 groups -- organized and unorganized. The organized militia is the National Guard. The unorganized militia is all able-bodied males 17-45 who are not in the military. BOTH militias are subject to the discipline of Congress. The Constitution says Congress has the power to make all necessary and proper laws to ensure the domestic tranquility. Beer-swilling 50-something wannabe Rambos toting weapons to compensate for a certain physical, ahem, insufficiency are neither the organized nor the unorganized militia. They don't need guns. Oh, yeah -- we're coming for the guns.

Obviously you haven't paid attention to the most recent and complete studies on violence. It has now been show that violent video games do increase aggression and hostility.
Big corps don't employ the majority of workers. Small business will be forced to find an out in order to squeeze a profit. We are sucking the productivity of our society dry to pay for non-productive bureaucracy and programs.

Yeah, drive around T.O. with the beautiful Janss Mall. Or maybe you would like a massage? T.O's. auto dealers have always been supported by a much wealthier population. Not that Simi hasn't made bad decisions, but their mall placement is the least of them.
I now have 3 family members working for Walmart. They all worked their way form the bottom up. All took advantage of education and training opportunities. Two are store managers, one is now an executive in Bentonville. All are well paid with great benefits.
Obama and his assistant Crowley lied outright. Crowley backtracked after the event. It was a set up response with Crowley holding the transcript at the ready. Except "IN THE MAIN" as noted by Crowley, Romney was correct. But she did her job of deflection and managed to still take pride in it. Most observers are aware of the blatent distortion. Same as the "binders" reference. The holes are big, the ship is sinking, their pumping like crazy, but somebody forgot to put the end of the hose overboard.
Bill Watkins and Team have been correct for many years.
Right or wrong (on the facts)(wrong in my opinion) Biden's performance was purely unethical and rude. The administration including Joking Joe has lied so blatantly it is gut wrenching to see. The rudeness and vulgarity from the left knows no bounds.
So money is waiting for ....................................Obama to be re-elected.
What a crock!

Maybe she is not "conservative" enough for Republican ideologues: she is pro-choice, pro-education( she was a public school teacher). Conservative Republicans and liberal Democrats share many values. The family's welfare comes first. Most Democrats and Republicans are middle class. Although we can discuss high- minded platitudes, they agree that their children should eat untainted food, drink untainted water, go to good local schools, live in safe neighborhoods, etc.

Maybe there is truth to what you say. But not a single conservative acquaintance has indicated a switch to Obama.
I have many so-called liberal democrat friends who will be voting for Romney/Ryan. The same friends who had previously argued vociferously for Obama and defended Maddow as a real journalist.
Haven't read the piece, just need to bash it.

Yeah...........Koch and Rove are at the controls?
What about Soros?
Too many jobs hinge on big governments decisions. Big Government is the destroyer.
Default argument - "Blame the Right"
The Dems failed to bring anything to the table and passed nothing when they had the power to do so. Intentionally stringing along the pain hoping to make more converts to the welfare state.
Obama = Across the board fail. Romney could have been more reserved in his comments but, as we see the administration's lies about the attack unfold, the critics are about to take a million egg shot in the face.
Teacher's Unions (not Teachers) have become corrupt and despicable.
Schram's criticisms of Romney apply 10x over to Obama. As for the "New Deal", etc. we are now at the precipice of collapse due to our welfare state policies.
Moorpark is not capable of managing anything. Please don't give them another tool for screwing things up.

in response to rationalthinker: As a non Christian I for one am glad that the founder of Chik-A-Fil has given voice to his despicable, hateful and hate filled theology. Having exposed himself to the light of day, he is no example for decent people to follow. He may claim to be a Christian, but if he is what Christianity is about, the Inquisition is alive and smouldering under the surface. Most Christians I know are embarrassed by this guy. Hopefully, he will submerge into the pond slime from which he has emerged. That said,I think municipalities which try to ban Chik-A-Fil are wrong, but I can assure you I shall not cross their threshold and spend one cent of hard earned money to line his malignant, grubby pockets. The Chik A Fil brand is now synonamous with hate. The solution is not to ban this bozo, but to boycott his product. Hopefully he will wither away. Or change, which is what occurred to other big businesses in the past when they espoused other hateful beliefs and supported them from their business endeavors. They got hurt in the pocketbook and began to change.

Wonderful people. Especially to our family. Sandee will be greatly missed. Our love to Joe and his family.
High speed mass trans will be necessary in the long...long run. In our current conditions it will only drain resources and never be able to pay for itself. The currently estimated fares already make take the train to expensive to be a viable alternate to cars and/or planes.

The economy crashed under democrat control due to democrat policies at F&F protected by Frank and the like.

As an alternative source of oil the U.S. would benefit greatly.
