The founding director of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at CSU Channel Islands is retiring, leaving the organization to be run primarily by its members. Marty Kaplan, 71, has been director of Osher since it started in 2004. The institute offers college-level classes to people 50 and older who want to continue learning but don't want to take tests or write papers.
