Workers clear limbs from a pine tree that tipped over Monday morning on the grounds of the Pierpont Inn & Spa in Ventura. "It was one of my favorite trees," said Ed Campbell, executive director of the inn. "We've looked at the root structure, and it looks fine. The needles are healthy, and there aren't any broken pipes nearby, so we don't know yet what happened." The 101-year-old inn was at full occupancy over the President's Day weekend while hosting members of the Spanish Harlem Orchestra and events tied to the upcoming Ventura Music Festival, Campbell said.
