Ventura man arrested in home burglary after neighbor calls police

A 23-year-old Ventura resident was arrested Saturday on suspicion of residential burglary in the 200 block of South Evergreen Drive in Ventura, police said.

Dominic Celestina was found carrying property from inside the victim’s house after a neighbor called police at 8:43 a.m. to report a prowler in a backyard, according to Ventura police.

Officers said they arrived within minutes and detained Celestina. The witness identified him as the person seen entering the victim’s backyard, police said.

An investigation found Celestina entered through an unlocked window in the back of the house, police said. During the investigation, the victim returned home and identified the allegedly stolen property, police said.

Celestina was booked into county jail on suspicion of residential burglary, possession of drug paraphernalia and two local arrest warrants, authorities said.

No one was injured.
