Four people were arrested this weekend in Ventura on suspicion of driving with a blood alcohol content above the legal limit, officials said.
Officers conducted a checkpoint on Thompson Boulevard east of Laurel Street between 9 p.m. Saturday and 2:30 a.m. Sunday, Ventura police said.
Four drivers were arrested on suspicion of DUI, authorities said. All had at least twice the legal limit for blood alcohol content, officials said.
Two people were cited on suspicion of driving on a suspended license and four others were cited on suspicion of driving without a license, police said. One person was cited on suspicion of possession of marijuana in a vehicle, authorities said.
Five vehicles were impounded during the checkpoint.
The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Traffic Safety Administration.
