Morning all,
brr!
Is this the beginning of Good news for American Workers?
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Wal-Mart Stores Inc will buy an additional $50 billion in U.S.-made goods over the next decade in areas like sporting goods and high-end appliances in what the world's largest retailer called a bid to help boost the U.S. economy.
Wal-Mart, the largest private employer in the United States and the world's largest retailer, also said on Tuesday it plans to hire 100,000 newly discharged veterans over the next five years, at a time when the U.S. unemployment rate is at 7.8 percent.

Afternoon All
Going to get in the 70 for the weekend, yip....pee.
CC I read that article, glad to see their going to hire some Vets for the jobs.
My work is done for the day, so now it's time to play. Has anyone seen, heard, or have one of those Google Chromebooks? I just order one, but there's a waiting list on them. Just something more to throw in my purse, but it only weighs 2.4 lbs and it's 0.7 thin. We'll see if it's worth a (you know what)
Anyway making Chicken Enchiladas for dinner tonight, so I better get it started.
Have a good one!

Good afternoon all,
Yet another cold day here too, Pearler ... but for us, in the mid to upper 50s. :) And thank you for what looks to be a good French film of the inter-war era ....
For me tonight, Luvee -- chili .... :)
BBL ... and, yes, a good rest of the day to everyone!

Sure is quiet in these parts......chilly afternoon all.

Speaking of chilly...I was in the grocery store today and they had no eggs. Apparently California chickens don't much care for the cold, in fact they refuse to work in it. I hope one of em ended up in Luvee's enchiladas.
Hootie writes:
I didn't know chickens were Union!!
IfYouSaySo (Inactive) writes:
I know!!! I have a pension plan for those little b------s that ruined my plan for a nice breakfast...Teriyaki sauce and very warm place to relax.
IfYouSaySo (Inactive) writes:
Forget that this story is just stupid, presumptuous, and lacking any credibility...
Check out the most popular comment...it's awesome.

If only we could implement your pension plan across all unions!! :-) Guess your gonna have to go to another store.
IfYouSaySo (Inactive) writes:
Meh, pancakes will do.
IfYouSaySo (Inactive) writes:
Cool beans Mom.
I think Hootie might have missed the mark, maybe not.
Personally...I have no issue with private employee unions. They are on a level field when it comes to negotiations.
Public Unions that are able to spend unlimited amounts of monies to get their candidate elected...I think that is a conflict of interest that the removes the voice of the working private industry taxpayer.
Just my opinion.
IfYouSaySo (Inactive) writes:
No biggie Mom, maybe we don't understand. We see reports of firefighters and nurses making double base pay and we have issues with that. I am sure that is not the norm, but it does raise eyebrows. It's always those on the low end of the totem pole that get the crap.

I am happy to announce that today is Jack-A-Roos birthday, okay you can go back to snoozing now.
Looks like the Clippers are going to win another one.
IfYouSaySo (Inactive) writes:
How about those Clippers?
And the Kings are ready to get back on the ice.
Good stuff for local sports fans.

No eggs? I bought a 60 count at the store the other day, I can loan you one.
Moi writes:
It's my never-to-be-humble-opinion that unions are simply not necessary anymore like they once were (and they only were in some respects).
Unions create lazy employees. Again, IMNTBHO.
Hootie writes:
I prefer a private enterprise system....at will employment & 401(k)s. Capitalism works!!!
Besides, who doesn't want a hot bath in teriyaki sauce?
Luvee writes:
In my not so humble opinion, I just want everybody to be happy, and an egg in every pot.
IfYouSaySo (Inactive) writes:
Not they they are not necessary, obsolete in a global workforce economy. Left and Right can whine about American wages until next Sunday.
Truth is, our government, Republican and Democrat sold us out. NAFTA, CAFTA, JICA, and the most current signed by the current sitting President, KORUS have all made life better for people that do not reside in the US.
If I have said it once...Globalism works for everyone except the the top producer. When it went into effect, #1 had no direction to go then down.
IfYouSaySo (Inactive) writes:
Hot teriyaki wrestling...I think you are on to something. Outlawed in every county, but worth a look.
