Signups for both swim lessons and junior lifeguards are now under way.
Signups are taken at the Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC) Port Hueneme Aquatics Center during open swim hours: 6 to 8 a.m., 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
At NBVC Point Mugu, signups are accepted during the open swim hours of 6 to 8 a.m. and 11 to 1 p.m.
There are two sessions of junior lifeguard training. The first runs June 18 to July 6. The second runs July 16 through Aug. 3. Cost is $150 for military personnel and $170 for Department of Defense (DoD) personnel.
There are four sessions of swim lessons: June 18-29; July 2-13; July 16-27 and July 30 through Aug. 10.
Lessons are open to people of all ages, from toddlers to adults.
Lessons for beginners are 30 minutes long and ost $40 for military personnel and $55 for DoD personnel. Intermediate classes include coached workouts, are 50 minutes long and cost $50 for military personnel and $65 for DoD personnel.
