MADERA, Calif. (AP) - Madera County authorities are trying to find homes for more than 100 cats discovered in a home after their owner died.
The Fresno Bee (http://bit.ly/MqoNXz ) says 154 cats and seven dogs were found in a ranch home in Madera last week.
The owner, a 58-year-old man, was lying dead in the backyard, apparently from natural causes. A pit bull was guarding his body.
Madera County animal control director Kirsten Gross says most of the animals were in good condition but 10 cats had to be destroyed.
The rest are available for adoption.
