Fire destroys parked vehicle in midtown Ventura

The Ventura City Fire Department received calls Tuesday of smoke seen outside a plumbing business at Channel and Borchard drives. On arrival, they found a van that was on fire. Fire personnel were able to contain the blaze to the van only. The office had limited smoke damage. The cause of fire was under investigation.

Fire personnel were able to contain the blaze to the van only. The office had limited smoke damage. The cause of fire was under investigation.

Fire destroyed a vehicle parked Tuesday in midtown Ventura, authorities said.

When firefighters arrived about 3:45 p.m. at Channel and Borchard drives, the vehicle was engulfed in flames. Crews put out the blaze and prevented it from spreading to an adjacent single-family home, warehouse and work trucks, according to the Ventura City Fire Department.

No one was injured. Damage was estimated at $15,000. The fire's cause was still under investigation.
