Seabees from U.S. Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 40 in Chinhae, Korea, recently delivered coal briquettes to heat the homes of low-income families this winter.
U.S. Navy Seabees and Sailors participated in the volunteer community relations project with the South Korean Community Chest Organization. They delivered more than 500 briquettes to families in Musan, Republic of Korea.
“It is going to be a very cold winter, and some people cannot afford to heat their homes this long,” said Kyong H. Pak. “Those who cannot afford to heat their homes with gas or diesel still use charcoal briquettes.”
Together the team of volunteers delivered more than 1,000 briquettes to four different families in the Musan community. Each family received approximately 250 coals to heat their homes for the winter.
Last year, the group delivered a total of 33,000 briquettes.
