Starting on Friday, Feb. 17, and continuing for up to four weeks, the Port Hueneme Water Agency will be temporarily supplying Naval Base Ventura County with potable water disinfected with chlorine instead of chloramines disinfectant.
This brief change is due to scheduled facility maintenance. It is unlikely that water users will notice any change in the appearance or smell of their tap water. However, if any changes are noticed, base personnel should do the following:
If a stronger than normal chlorine odor exists after an extended absence, allow the water to run for a few minutes to reduce the odor.
Should you notice a discoloration at a sink or water fountain, merely allow the water to flow for a few minutes to flush the line until clear water appears.
