Nominations for the Joyce W. Stewart Memorial Award are due March 19, and the winner will be announced at a 10 a.m. ceremony March 29 at the Bard Mansion.
The late Joyce Stewart was the first woman at the Naval Construction Battalion Center to achieve the professional grade of GM-14.
“Her personal commitment was to promote an atmosphere that encouraged an awareness of fairness and equal treatment by supervisors, subordinates and co-workers,” said Capt. Jim McHugh, commanding officer, Naval Base Ventura County. “She encouraged and gave ample opportunity to all of her employees to reach their highest potential. It is this type of genuine commitment that deserves recognition.”
This is the 21st anniversary of the award. It is presented each year by the Federal Women’s Program Committee.
For a nomination form, contact Mercedes Peavy at Mercedes.peavy@navy.mil. Completed applications must be returned to her no later than close of business Monday, March 19.
