Re: your Feb 19 article, “Food stamp fraud’s repeat offenders”:
It seems once again the government is chasing it's own tail. Why is the investigation aimed only at stores engaged in this fraudulent activity. There was no mention of charges being brought against the individuals who used the food stamps. I have to assume the government takes no action against them.
A much more effective deterrent would be if charges also were brought against the individuals cashing in the food stamps. It takes two to commit this crime. The offenders should have their food stamp privileges revoked upon sentencing. If they knew there was a possibility of losing that free money, I'm quite sure they would think twice about using it for that pack of smokes or case of beer. That would be an excellent deterrent.
How can you stop a crime when the criminals are allowed to commit it without fear of repercussions? You can't.

Paul, you are using too much logic, your idea will never fly with the current administration.

If you did that, how would all the hillbilly Tea Baggers get their smokes and their beer?
