Re: your Feb. 21 article, “Crash kills firm’s owner”:
Upon entering the canyon, a sign indicates the number of victims who have perished in the Kern River. From the song “Kern River” by Merle Haggard come the lyrics, “Now, it’s not deep nor wide, but it’s a mean piece of water, my friend,” and, “I may drown in still water, but I’ll never swim Kern River again.”
The narrow, twisty road carved from the rocky hillside following along the river just adds to the treacherousness of the drive. This already dangerous situation is made worse by the arrogant local drivers showing disdain for “wimpy” safe 25 to 30 mph drivers by tailgating and pushing the slower drivers through the curves.
This always happens, and it is my guess that Mark Roberts fell victim to such a driver who was trying to show off his fearless and expert driving ability (or lack thereof).

As we are extremely sorry for you and your companies loss, it seems that you are forgetting another very important sign that indicates slower traffic use turnouts.
