Man trapped under semi escapes with minor injuries

A 20-year-old driver was trapped Tuesday after his car ended up under a tractor-trailer in Oxnard. He apparently had minor injuries, authorities said.

When firefighters arrived at 1440 E. Fifth St., they found the man's car completely under the trailer of an 18-wheeler, said Battalion Chief Rod Thorp of the Oxnard Fire Department. Only the car's trunk was visible, and part of the roof had been pulled off in the crash.

Firefighters freed the driver by 3:45 a.m., Thorp said.

Conscious and talking, the man had what appeared to be minor injuries, Thorp said. The driver was taken to Ventura County Medical Center for evaluation.
