Woman rescued after plunging from Ventura pier

Ventura Fire Department crews rescued a woman who plunged from the Ventura pier Friday night.

The department received a call around 10 p.m. Friday that a woman had gone off the pier and was hanging onto pilings.

Rescue swimmers were able to help the woman back to shore, Ventura police Cmdr. Juan Reynoso said.

The unidentified woman was believed to be in her 50s. She suffered hypothermia and lacerations and was disoriented. She was rushed to a local hospital, the department said.
