Simi Valley police arrest man after high-speed chase

Simi Valley police arrested a man Thursday after a high-speed chase that ended in the San Fernando Valley, authorities said.

Police tried to stop Omar Mosqueda Quintanar, 22, of Simi Valley, near Sycamore Drive and Cochran Street for a minor traffic infraction, but he refused to stop, officials said.

Quintanar continued to drive west on Cochran to Erringer Road, then got onto eastbound Highway 118 and drove at speeds exceeding 100 mph, officials said.

Police said they followed Quintanar to the San Fernando Valley and stopped the vehicle against a center divider.

Quintanar was arrested and taken to a hospital for facial abrasions he suffered from an earlier altercation, said police Lt. John Parks. He later was booked into Ventura County jail on suspicion of felony evading, police said.
