Strike Fighter Squadron 125 (VFA-125) will perform a flight demonstration with the FA-18 Hornet during the Naval Base Ventura County Air Show at Point Mugu, Aug. 7-8.

Since April 11, 1958, the VFA-125 Rough Raiders’ mission has been the indoctrination and training of Navy and Marine Corps personnel for carrier-borne strike fighter squadrons in all phases of F/A-18 employment and, on order, to be prepared to supply replacement aircraft and pilots to the fleet.

The squadron trains pilots to fill FA-18 Hornet billets throughout the Navy and Marine Corps and for foreign countries. In addition, the squadron routinely conducts strike and fighter detachments to Naval Air Facility El Centro, Calif., and Naval Air Station Fallon, Nev., as well as aboard carriers in both the Pacific and Atlantic Fleets.

Today, VFA-125 averages 1,500 flight hours monthly and trains approximately 120 pilots each year.

Pilots from the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Marine Corps, and armed forces worldwide have been trained at VFA-125.

The squadron is home-based at Naval Air Station Lemoore and operates the FA-18C/D Hornets.
