The 2010 Naval Base Ventura County Air Show at Point Mugu is Saturday, Aug. 7, and Sunday, Aug. 8. Admission and parking are free, and gates will open at 8 a.m. both days, with flight demonstrations starting at 9 a.m.
The headline act, the U.S. Air Force Demonstration Squadron, the Thunderbirds, will perform at 3 p.m. both days. They will arrive at Point Mugu at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, circling the base first.
A practice air show will be open to all people with base access on Friday, Aug. 6. The first act will be at 10 a.m., and the Thunderbirds will perform at 2 p.m.
To alleviate as much air show traffic on Las Posas Road as possible, the California Highway Patrol will shut down all Highway 1 ramps onto Las Posas beginning at 6 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday. Drivers on Highway 1 wanting to attend the air show will need to exit at Wood Road and use the Main Gate for entry. In addition, Gate 1 will be open to cars with base decals.
While entrance to the air show is free, tickets for reserved seating are available.
A ticket booth will be open near the reserved seating area during the show.
