As part of their service, the students directed attendees around CSUCI’s John Spoor Broome Library, passed out stickers, and met the author, Alexis O’Neill, who wrote The Recess Queen as well as The Worst Best Friend. (AVID – Advancement Via Individual Determination, is an elective student program to educate and encourage low-income, and/or first generation college attending students, to prepare themselves for the college application process, acceptance and success in college.)
